What Makes My Protein Bars Different

Dr. Jen’s Ultimate Protein Bar was born from the idea that a protein bar can be loaded with nutritious, all natural, low sugar, high fiber and allergy and sensitivity-friendly ingredients and doesn’t have to taste like cardboard.

For decades, I, like many of you, have struggled with digestive issues ranging from mild daily discomfort to severe and scary symptoms leading to emergency room visits. In 2005, I was diagnosed with gluten sensitivity and spent many years studying labels and searching for food that wouldn’t make me sick, but still tasted appetizing.

A year ago, my husband, one of the healthiest people I know, was hospitalized for sudden, partial vision loss as a result of a reaction to an antibiotic. After being tested for two days to rule out all kinds of frightening conditions, the stress took its toll on me, and I ended up in the hospital, as well. Stress, dehydration, and not eating right caused me to be hospitalized for a very serious digestive issue. Exactly a month later, I was hospitalized again for the same problem. Desperate to not return, and having very limited food options that didn’t make me sick, my husband suggested I create my own gluten-free protein snack bar. I ventured out to create something I could eat with ingredients that were extremely nourishing and easily digestible. I took his challenge that day, and the rest is history. 

I began by choosing quality ingredients that were wholesome, all-natural, and non-GMO—ingredients I wouldn’t hesitate to feed to my own child. After trying out many versions of my bars on my family, friends, and patients, I found just the right combinations of ingredients that produced a bar that was both super-healthy and delicious. With my protein snack bars, I was able to regain my health and my strength and return back to my practice.
